The Ascendant in Synastry

The Angles are the four anchor points that bind one's existence to the tangible rhythms of earth and sky, the drama of one's life as expressed through the polarities of Self and Other, Private and Public. Technically, they are the four mathematically derived points that connect one's geographical location on earth to the outermost circumference of the Great Wheel of the Zodiac. The Ascendant, sometimes called the Rising Sign, is roughly equivalent to the Eastern Horizon at birth. This point describes the nature of how one experiences and projects the essential Self; in synastry, it indicates the impact of each relational participant on the other person's sense of identity and esteem.
